Music returns to Cyprus’ mountains

Music returns to Cyprus’ mountains

There are certainly high and low periods for music lovers, as each season brings a variety of events. The arrival of September brings with it a renewed edition of the beloved Music in the Mountains series, which sees live performances in intimate rural locations around the island. Autumn’s first concert is just around the corner.

On September 27, Patrice Taylor will join the popular jazz band Marios Spyrou Trio for a special concert in Koili village. Held at The Sheep Traditional Café-Bar in the Paphos district, the evening will bring listeners a dose of carefully chosen jazz songs and medleys.

The hilltop village café is eager to host musicians and audiences alike this September, marking a new season of Music in the Mountains events. Frontwoman of the night, Patrice Taylor is a seasoned talent new to the Cyprus jazz scene who has performed widely abroad. She has performed at the Café Royal in London, the Cambridge Arts Theatre, and has been on UK national tours and national TV appearances.

Music is in her blood as the art runs in her family. Originally from the USA, her parents were regulars on CBS Radio Miami in the 1940s as a popular duet, and as a vocalist herself, her vocal dexterity ranges from intense French ballads to the swinging delivery of jazz standards.

Accompanied by three of Cyprus’ leading jazz musicians who have performed extensively on the island and abroad, Patrice and the Marios Spyrou Trio will share a charming evening of jazz this month. Tickets are already on sale online.
