Congratulations Culture for International Discrimination in H. Fundo and G. Solonos

The Ministry of Culture congratulates the announcements by two Cypriot artists who have achieved international awards, pianist Christos Founto and musician, producer and composer George Solonos.

The Department of State congratulates Christos Fountu for winning the third place in the 65th Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, held in Bolzano, Italy, while the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates the musician, producer and composer George "Walking Away", and the highest distinction "Best in Europe - Alternative Category / Better Alternative Music" at the Intercontinental Music Awards 2025.

The distinction in the international prestige, which is addressed to the most important young soloists in the world, proves the level of dedication and artistic education of Mr Fountou, says the Deputy Ministry and adds its new success honors the same person and the whole of Cyprus. Christos Fountas claims the country's cultural potential on the international stage, showing the way that young Cypriot artists can face the world's leading ones, he notes.

The Department of Contemporary Culture points out that the success of George Solonos, an artist who combines international experience with the deep connection with Cyprus, highlights Cyprus into a hub of modern cultural creation and strengthens its prestige on the world stage.

He also states that he had already recognized the particular artistic value of Mr Solonos, providing him with a cultural creator in 2025, while at the same time, his award -winning album was highly rated by a competent committee, which led the department to the market for the limited number of vinyls.
