The outgoing United States President's envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said that an agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war is indeed close and now depends on the resolution of two key outstanding issues, concerning the future of the Donbass region and the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
"If we fix those two issues, I think the rest of the things will go pretty well," he said.
Keith Kellogg, who is expected to leave office in January, said efforts to resolve the conflict are in the last 10 yards, which he noted are always the hardest.
He also described the scale of the dead and wounded that the war in Ukraine has caused as horrific and unprecedented for a regional war.
He added that Russia and Ukraine have a total of more than 2 million dead and wounded in the four years of conflict.
