Cyclone Byron brought showers and thunderstorms to Cyprus. Mini-floods have been recorded on the island. Two waterspouts were spotted off the coast of Paphos, and a tornado was spotted in the village of Tala. After Sunday's respite, increasing severe weather conditions are expected early next week.
11 HOUR YELLOW LEVEL
The Meteorological Service of the Republic of Cyprus has introduced a “yellow” level of weather danger for 11 a.m. It will be valid until 18:00 Sunday, December 7. The reason is heavy rains (up to 55 mm of precipitation can fall in an hour), increased wind and hail.

At 20:43 on Saturday, December 6, another earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred in Cyprus. Its epicenter was 18 km southeast of Nicosia. On Saturday evening, several villages in the Larnaca region were left without electricity. The reason is a malfunction of the EAC power grid system.

TORNADO
On Saturday, December 6, two waterspouts “walked” in the sea off the coast of Paphos in the area of the lighthouse. Rotating columns of air connecting thunderclouds with the surface of the sea and looking like giant funnels were located several hundred meters from each other.
PREPARE FOR POSSIBLE MINI-FLOODS
Paphos authorities have urged residents of the region to prepare for possible mini-floods by clearing debris from drains and sewer grates where rainwater flows. If during rain, debris obstructs the flow of water and flooding has already begun, you should immediately call

SNOWMAN-
TRAVELER
With the arrival of "Byron" there were some funny incidents caused by bad weather. A video of a white plastic snowman riding on streams of rainwater has gone viral. It was part of Larnaca's Christmas decorations. Due to heavy rains, the streets of the area turned into a river that caught the snowman.

ARTIFICIAL
Cypriot weather forecasters predicted wet snow in the Troodos mountains. On December 6, a video appeared of snow falling in the village of Pedoulas. The “first snowflakes” turned out to be artificial. They were produced by a special machine, which was installed by the village community authorities in order to create a Christmas mood.
ON SUNDAY - BREAKTHROUGH
Although Cyprus is under a yellow weather warning on Sunday, December 7, Byron will calm down for a while and the severe weather will not be as intense as on Saturday.
On the Alpha TV channel, Andreas Chrysanfu, an employee of the meteorological service of the Republic of Cyprus, announced the forecast for the beginning of next week. On Monday, December 8, a new atmospheric front will form between Cyprus and Crete. The cyclone will linger south of Cyprus until Wednesday, December 10, bringing rain and increased wind to the island.
