data on foreign direct investment in the country by the end of 2024. First place
turned out to be
Russia with 83.46 billion euros. This is 23% of the total volume of accumulated investments. The United States is in second place with 66.57 billion euros (18%).
The total volume of foreign direct investment in the Republic of Cyprus at the end of 2024 amounted to 365.07 billion euros. Per share
27 EU member states
accounted for 20% (74.36 billion). The largest share among EU member states falls on
Luxembourg
with 32.1 billion euros (9% of the total, 43% of EU foreign direct investment). In second place -
Netherlands
with 6.9 billion (2% of the total and 9% of EU investment).
United Kingdom
invested 17.17 billion euros (5%) in Cyprus. Direct foreign investment from
Ukraine
amounted to 10.64 billion (3%). 5.1 billion came from
Israel
and 7.6 billion from other countries in the Near and Middle East. 8.4 billion in direct investment came from
Cayman Islands
, 2.4 billion - from
British Virgin
islands and 3.5 billion - from
Marshall Islands
.
Data from the Central Bank of Cyprus shows a downward trend in the volume of accumulated foreign direct investment. From 489.4 billion euros in 2022, this figure decreased to 394 billion in 2023 and to 365 billion in 2024.
The largest outflow of 52 billion euros from 2022 to 2024 occurred in Russia (2022 - 135.7 billion, 2024 - 83.46 billion). A noticeable decrease in direct investment volumes was also recorded from the USA (-15.1 billion), Switzerland (-14.7 billion) and the UK (-10 billion). The largest increase in foreign direct investment was observed from Luxembourg (10 billion euros).
