No smoking also in open spaces in Milan

In Italy, in the Municipality of Milan, it was announced that from the first of January 2025, smoking will also be prohibited in open spaces.

According to the decision, the ban will apply to streets, courtyards, open areas of restaurants and cafes.

The only exception will be isolated areas, in which each smoker must have a "free space", without other citizens, in a radius of at least ten meters.

The fines, for those who do not respect the new ban, will start from 40 and will reach 250 euros.

The Municipality of Milan clarified that the new measure only concerns "traditional cigarettes" and not electronic ones.

In the big city of the Italian north, a ban on smoking applies, from 2021, in areas where citizens exercise, small children play, as well as at bus stops, cemeteries and sports facilities.
