Nicosia police are investigating the theft of holy relics from a small chapel in the Pano Deftera area.
It is known that the attackers got inside and took out items stored in a specially equipped icon case. The police were informed about the emergency immediately after the break-in was established.
An investigation team arrived at the scene and thoroughly examined the chapel and the surrounding area. The chapel is located on the territory of the main temple. The police collected evidence to identify the criminals.
Investigators are studying the collected materials and checking all possible routes of entry into the building. Police have not yet released information about the possible number of suspects or the estimated time of the theft. The case has been transferred to the Lakatamia Police Station, which is leading the investigation.
