The US President said today that the United States attacked Iran because it believed Tehran would "strike first" against Israel.
Speaking in the Oval Office during a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Merz, President Trump claimed that many potential successors to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have been killed, adding that "pretty soon we won't know anyone."
He added that the "worst-case scenario" for Iran is "to have someone take over who is just as bad as the last one."
The United States military has carried out strikes against more than 1,700 targets in Iran, the US Central Command announced today.
