WHO: Vaccination campaign begins for children in the Gaza Strip

The World Health Organization is preparing to begin an extensive campaign to vaccinate children in the Gaza Strip on Sunday.

Some 44,000 children, who were impossible to vaccinate during the war, will be vaccinated within ten days for measles, mumps, rubella and polio, among other diseases.

The World Health Organization estimates that 20% of children under the age of five in the Palestinian enclave have not been vaccinated at all or have only been vaccinated for some diseases.

Alongside the vaccination campaign, UNICEF is preparing to assess malnutrition among children and young people, so that aid can be provided as effectively as possible.
