Michael Graley, 76, died while on vacation in Cyprus. First, his leg suffered a cramp, and ten minutes after being taken to the Paralimni hospital, doctors pronounced him dead. He was vacationing on the island with his wife, 73-year-old Yvonne, and their family.
A post-mortem examination was carried out in Cyprus, but when the body was brought to the UK, local doctors discovered that the cause of death was missing from the death certificate. As a result, Rochdale pathologists commissioned a second autopsy. Imagine the surprise of the doctors when they did not discover that there was no heart in the body. Because of this, it was impossible to establish the cause of death.
“I was completely shocked. It was terrible,” Yvonne said.
Cypriot police said the heart was sent to a research center. The deceased’s daughter, 47-year-old Hayley, noted that the family is outraged by what happened and demands an explanation.
