Asylum applications fell by almost 20% last year in the European Union, a specialist organization has announced, warning, however, of the risk of a "refugee influx" from Iran if that country is destabilized.
"With a population of around 90 million, even a partial destabilization could trigger refugee flows of an unprecedented scale," said the European Union Asylum Agency report, which was drawn up before the war broke out at the weekend.
