Professor of molecular virology Petros Karayannis told Sigma TV channel about the new mutation of the coronavirus. It is characterized by severe pain in the throat, which leads to hoarseness of the voice. Other symptoms - runny nose, fever and general malaise - remain the same as with previous strains.
The expert clarified that the new mutation, as a rule, is more easily tolerated than earlier strains. However, he warned that as the population's immunity weakens, especially people who have not been vaccinated or have not been sick recently, may experience more severe symptoms.
In conclusion, Dr. Karayiannis urged the public to follow basic self-protection measures - washing hands, wearing a mask and avoiding crowded places - emphasizing that “these measures protect not only from coronavirus, but also from all respiratory viruses.”
I was recently in London and noticed that many people were wearing masks in airports, public transport and shops.
