Iran: Admits to broadcasting unreliable news during war with Israel

Mistakes in coverage of Iran's war with Israel have been admitted by the president of Iran's state broadcaster.

Speaking to students, Peyman Djebali stated that the organization's credibility has been damaged by referring to a false news that Tehran shot down a modern F-35 fighter jet. The head of Iran's state television said he had been informed of the alleged incident by an official, but it turned out that the information was not reliable. The European Union has imposed sanctions on Peyman Jebeli and Iran's state broadcaster from 2022, saying it severely restricts the free flow of information to the Iranian people.
